IF YOU HAVE A NEW COUGH
Or
IF YOU HAVE A FEVER:
1. SELF ISOLATE IMMEDIATELY
2. CONTACT YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER
10 days ago I mentioned that our response to COVID-19 would look a like a ‘blizzard’ but the internet would still be on. … that was probably the wrong analogy. My bad.
Please stop with the wacky food buying and stuff hoarding. It is unnecessary, disruptive, and anxiety creating. Food distribution is not going to be stopped by this. Toilet paper will continue to be made (and it’s a bit of a weird fetish thing to stock up on anyhow – maybe get some counseling for that).
If you want to help, get groceries, medications or just a hand for the elderly and infirm. Those are the folks who must stay away from crowded areas, etc. Oh, and don’t then invite yourself in to put the groceries away. Leave them at the door, knock, and step back. 6 feet away would be the goal.
I know your world feels totally weird. Everything looks so normal and yet it is not. We are expecting some sort of drama because of the dramatic steps taken, but it is sunny and beautiful and everything feels so spectacularly the same.
The USA is 11-14 days behind Italy. That is baked in and very hard for me to get my head around. The Italian doctors leading that effort are begging us to take this far more seriously.
England has conceded defeat and conceded that tens of thousands of their citizens will die in order to develop ‘herd immunity’ through the natural way of rampant spread – think Iran and the mass burials happening daily.
Without any adequate surveillance, the only tool we have is our personal decency. Our personal responsibility to our community and our country.
“We, the People” must act now wielding these words as our rampart against defeat.
“We, the People” will be flawlessly vigilant in our personal care while caring for those around us.
“We, the People” will stand united for each others success; resist fear and the selfishness that comes with it.
“We, the People” will make all the difference and blunt the catastrophe that is bearing upon us.
Stand with the housekeepers and doctors, the nurses, firefighters and paramedics who must bear this burden.
We the people have the power to do Good.
You know what to do. Get it done.
