Where writing is unnatural to the dyslexic; language and story telling is delicious.

I have spent my career focused on emergency healthcare, managing people with compassion while driving society to care, love and heal each other openly.

Background on Jurgen:

• I say I have worked for nearly 30 years in emergency healthcare but I was also the kid who stopped the bloody nose on playgrounds, held hair back as she vomited and sat and listened when it was hard.

• Earning my EMT and Paramedic license by 19, I was likely the youngest in the state and possibly the country.

• That path lead me to work as a Firefighter and Paramedic for the Town of Mashpee; and on occasion I also worked in the Police Department as a police/fire dispatcher.

• In 1993 I graduated as a Registered Nurse and began working in the emergency department in Falmouth, Massachusetts; a medium-sized community, my home town, and where I knew many of my patients and their families personally.

• I served on a medical mission in rural Honduras, worked as a cruise ship nurse on Disney’s “Wonder” and treated cowboys as an ER nurse in Bozeman Montana.

•  Over the years I learned and worked as the Emergency Department Charge Nurse and Hospital-wide Nursing Supervisor; responsible for managing and deploying the hospitals resources in an efficient and effective manner.

• In 2009, I was the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for Falmouth Hospital. A time that encompassed the H1N1 crisis.

• I have traveled globally and lived in the Netherlands, Barbados and throughout the U.S.

• Kate, my wife, work in International animal welfare found us moving to The Netherlands for several years. By 2012 she was traveling frequent enough to make life simpler with me staying home.

•. Freelance writer targeting healthcare issues, politics, and the human experience.
