She’s hiding in a closet in her school

Chased there by a monstrous shooting ghoul

How have us brave Boomers so miserably failed

To prevent our children being so brutally assailed

•

Oh and the insult is so much worse,

Her lead levels are life time curse

Again and again, our horror shows no bound

Even here, her health care lacks solid ground

•

She was the last one through that door

While outside they dropped to adorn the floor

Forever young, my friends, and mornings no more

And yet she’ll return still fragmented at her core

•

“Is it there? Or there? The monstrous ghoul!”

She checks the door, more prison than school

We’ve amended her life, divided it in two

Before she was shot – and now what the fuck to do?

•

No one has a good answer

No one can agree

Schools in the cross hairs

That we can see

•

This much I know and this much I share

Should the ghoul be charging you anywhere

Follows the child’s instructions with care

For they know the drill, they have been there.
